The tubes of the foot pedals in all DG single seaters are aligned in a V shape in order to achieve better pedal adjustment.
However, not all people are shaped the same and there are often pilots that would like to vary the angle. In addition, it is not desirable to have the feet touch the large canopy. At worst that can lead to scratches, but in any event to smearing. As a solution to these problems we have designed a new pedal extender that will fit all single seaters since the DG-100.
They are put on to the rudder pedals and are about the size of a large brake pedal in a car, and offer lateral support for the foot so that it does not touch the canopy. In addition, the position of the bottom of the foot can be adjusted in a long flight, because one now presses on a full surface rather than just a tube.
In addition, we offer extenders with larger or smaller angle adjustments. On one the outside of the pedal surface is thickened, so that the feet are in a parallel position (outside thickened) and on the other type it is thickened on the inside to achieve a bowlegged effect (inside thickened) so that one can comfortably get the legs around the instrument panel.
A pair of extenders cost not much and contribute considerably to comfort.
You can order the extenders now. But before you do you should sit in your sailplane and try out which version you would prefer, Normal, Outside thickened or Inside thickened.
Most pilots will fare best with the normal version or with the Outside thickened one.
